These terms cover your use of Chic. By creating an account or continuing to use the app, you agree to them. Chic is operated by Block by Block Holdings, Inc., 1521 Concord Pike, Ste. 301, Wilmington, Delaware 19803, United States. Questions: [email protected].
Chic is not medical advice. Chic is an educational decision-support tool. It reads product labels and checks them against preferences you set. It does not diagnose, treat, or prescribe, and it is not a substitute for a doctor, midwife, pharmacist, or dietitian. For anything medical, ask a qualified professional.
What Chic does
You tell Chic which ingredients you want to avoid, treat with caution, or allow. Chic reads a product label and tells you how that label compares to the preferences you set. A flag means "this matches a rule you wrote", not "this is dangerous".
What Chic cannot promise
- Labels change and sources are imperfect. Manufacturers reformulate, labels are printed in many languages, and photos are sometimes hard to read. Chic can misread a label or lack data on an ingredient. When it is unsure, it says so rather than guessing.
- A clear read is not a safety guarantee. It means nothing on that label matched the rules you set. Always read the packaging yourself, especially for a serious allergy.
- Ingredient coverage is incomplete and always growing. An ingredient we have not classified yet is reported as unknown, never as safe.
If you have a severe allergy or a medical condition, treat Chic as a helper, not the final word.
Beta software
Chic is in active development. Features change, data models change, and there may be bugs or downtime. We may change or withdraw parts of the service. If a change affects what you agreed to, we will ask you again rather than assume.
Your account
- You need a working email address; sign-in is by a code we email you, so keep access to it.
- Do not use someone else's account, and do not try to break, overload, or reverse-engineer the service.
- You can delete your account and your data at any time from inside the app.
Your content
The preferences, profiles, questions, and photos you put into Chic remain yours. You give us permission to process them to provide the service, as described in our Privacy Policy. We do not sell them, and they are not used to train AI models.
Our content
Chic's software, design, ingredient classifications, and written explanations belong to Block by Block Holdings, Inc. You may use them within the app for your own personal decisions; please do not copy or redistribute them.
Liability
Chic is provided as-is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for decisions you make using it, for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss caused by inaccurate label data. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including your statutory rights as a consumer in the EU.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. This does not remove any consumer protection you have under the law of the country you live in: if you are a consumer in the EU or UK, you keep the mandatory rights and the right to bring proceedings in your local courts that your national law gives you.
Changes
This page carries a version. When we make a change that affects your agreement, we ask you again in the app.
